What kind of computers are available in the Information Commons? What ports do the computers have?

Answer

The iMacs in the Information Commons are the 21.5-inch, late-2012 model.

The iMacs have a headphone jack, an SD card slot, 4 USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt ports, and an Ethernet port. Please see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5522 for more technical details.

These computers do not have an internal disc drive. External disc drives are available for checkout on level 2.

They also no longer have a FireWire port- if you need to use a FireWire device, you will need an adapter.


The computers in the Information Commons run both Mac OS and Windows. To see a list of the software available on the Information Commons computers, please click here. Some software is only available on either the Mac or Windows side, or on specific computers - these are noted in the list linked above.
